Hello my friend!

Hello my friend,

I’m Sarah — the Hippie Grandma.

Writer, feminist life coach, herbalist, social justice warrior, and guide for women learning how to stop abandoning themselves and finally trust who they’ve become.

I’ve worn a lot of hats…ok, not actual hats…. metaphorical, because there is so much in this life that fascinates me.

I’m empty nest Mama to two talented daughters (my first blog was called Grown-Up Mom), an herbalist and lover of plants, and somewhat of a food snob. Not the gourmet kind, more like the hippie groovy organic kind. I love me my fresh veggies!

I do love a good strong cup of coffee though, as well as a well designed cocktail.

I’m a twice certified life coach on a mission to unleash the power and radiance of women of all ages…. but most especially those who have reached menopause and beyond.

I’ve been coaching women (plus a few good men and non binary folks) for over a decade now. I like to joke that my coach trainings were each better than 10 years of therapy. I do adore my therapist… but it’s the coaching tools that got me through divorce (after 22 years of marriage), break-ups, bankruptcy, late diagnosis ADHD and the loneliness of the pandemic.

It’s what has sustained me through the body changes of menopause and the frustration and - yes, grief - that comes with an aging body.

As a 24 year old single mom with a toddler I decided to open up an herb shop so that I and those in my small rural community could access medicinal herbs. That shop turned into a community hub and a destination for inspirational books and all sorts of goodies for healing body, mind and spirit.

I became an herbalist and somewhat of a health nut…. which luckily got me off cigarettes 🤣.

I like to say I was a life coach before anyone knew what that was … because I often found myself dispensing life advice at the shop. And of course I was health coaching the whole time.

Since selling that shop I’ve worked as a journalist, edited books and articles, managed offices, and traveled extensively. My girls are grown, the grandkids are growing and there’s always a next chapter!

My mantra is: It’s never too late, why not now?
